Galiday Bounce promoter wants refund after Kraff’s no-show
Event promoter Galdiez is demanding a full refund from dancehall artiste Kraff, who was a no-show at Galiday Bounce scheduled for December 31 in New York.
Kraff, however, in a statement posted on social media, said the full deposit and booking fee were not paid, as required under the contract, therefore he could not show up.
In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR, an irate Galdiez said he is also demanding another US$25,000 for the losses incurred following the last-minute postponement of the stage show.
"Dem out now a try play damage control but no want mi money and mi need back US$45,000 for all of damage and expense that incur because of this," Galdiez said.
Galiday Bounce was scheduled to be held at Amazura Concert Hall.
"Dem charge me US$40,000 for the show and dem tell mi say when mi deposit US$15,000 dem a guh give me pictures and the promotional material for the artiste. When mi look, mi nuh see dem send mi nothing. Mi make two call and reach out to dem just to tell dem to do the right thing. Afterwards, him start say him no do picture and other things so the man tell him say him must do the ads and him do a little fool-fool ad," he said.
Galdiez said he was surprised when it was communicated to him by Kraff's management team that additional money was needed for security and other purposes.
"Just two days before showtime, mi see dem a text mi say dem need an additional US$14,000 for expense because the artiste scared and in fear of his life and all type a [expletive] which means say basically a US$54,000 dem a take from mi for the show. All a dis a because mi voice note him and tell him say if him nah do the ads to run back mi money. Mi already book hotel for dem and dem a say dem want money to book other hotel," Galdiez said.
Through a statement posted via his Instagram page, Kraff responded to the claims made by Galdiez stating that the full deposit and booking fee were not paid as required under the contract.
"The final balance due on December 24, was also never received. Flights and other expenses were never purchased or properly initiated. The only discussion regarding airfare occurred on the day of show when it was suggested that the club owners collect $5,000 from the promoter to attempt to purchase flights. By that time the airfare exceeded that amount and all outstanding balances and required expenses remained unpaid," a portion of the statement read.
According to the post, a total of US$19,400 was collected from Galdiez as a deposit for the concert but other fees were yet to paid.
"Any claims, commentary or theatrics circulating in public are for entertainment purposes only. They do not reflect the facts. The truth does not live on those videos. The bottom line was the artiste was not paid and his airfare, transportation, accommodations and remaining contractual balance were never provided or approved. Without those requirements being met, the performance could not proceed," another section of the statement read.
