Fisherman held with illegal gun

Thirty-four-year-old fisherman Donnadoni McDonald of Paggee district, Port Maria, St Mary, has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon in relation to a seizure in his community last Saturday.

Reports from the Port Maria police are that at 6 a.m., police on operation visited an address in the area. During a search of the premises, a container containing several BB pellets and three spent casings were found. McDonald then led members of the team to a BB gun which was hidden in the fence of his yard. The firearm and ammunition were seized, and McDonald were taken into custody.

He was formally charged on Tuesday, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. His court date is being finalised.
